As we enter November, a month often associated with gratitude and gathering, we also find ourselves navigating uncertainty. Cuts to essential supports like SNAP and other community services are reshaping the landscape in which families live, feed, and grow. At BFFC, we recognize the weight of these shifts and we remain steadfast in our commitment.
Our mission is clear: to create communities that are welcoming, inclusive, and rooted in the principles of our framework. We aim to help alleviate social and community pressures, creating a healthier and more welcoming community for families. Although external supports may be strained, we know that strong local structures such as policy, environment, and peer networks continue to matter deeply.
Over the past year, despite broader challenges, BFFC’s work has continued: providing technical assistance and capacity-building, mobilizing communities, supporting local designation, and recognizing communities that are embracing the Ten Steps. Our focus remains on connecting families with environments that support human milk feeding, informed choice, and community belonging in all settings.
We believe that when families are supported, everyone benefits. That ethos drives our collaborations and programming. As we move ahead through the season, we invite you to stay engaged: share your stories, reach out for support, ask questions, and continue to advocate for spaces where feeding families are visible, valued, and accommodated.
Thank you for being part of this community. Together, we’re building community-wide momentum especially in times when it matters most.
With gratitude and resolve,
Breastfeeding Family Friendly Communities Team |
