Hoke County, NC – Advocates for Every Feeding Journey
Hoke County is more than just a name; it’s a beacon of commitment and support within the Breastfeeding Family Friendly Communities. Our ethos is clear: every feeding choice deserves respect, and we are here to ensure that every journey feels valued.
Highlighted Initiatives:
- Postpartum Mental Health Initiative: Elevating awareness and furnishing resources to bolster emotional well-being in the postpartum period.
- Heatwave Safety Guide: A sanctuary of advice for lactating individuals, ensuring they, along with their young ones, navigate hot weather with care and precaution.
- CDC Collaboration: A hand-in-hand partnership yielding insights for breastfeeding and chestfeeding parents from the latest guidelines.
- Lactation Spaces in Educational Settings: With a keen focus on inclusivity, all public schools and the Board of Education in Hoke County now boast lactation spaces. That’s a commendable 17 spaces dedicated for staff and students.
- Lactation-friendly Daycares: Grant funding paved the way for two daycares in Hoke County to be equipped with lactation spaces.
- Superstore Lactation Spaces: It took a year of relentless advocacy, but we finally ensured that a prominent non-WHO Code compliant superstore in Hoke County provides a lactation space. This superstore stands as a linchpin in our community’s commerce and support. We’re proud of this achievement but continue to push for them to adhere fully to the WHO Code.
- Breastfeeding University Collaboration: Our Breastfeeding Program Coordinator teamed up with the Carolina Global Breastfeeding Institute to train all daycare centers via their Breastfeeding University.
- Lactation Space at the Library: The Hoke County Public Library now also offers a lactation space, courtesy of the NC ICO4MCH.
